Safety

Safety is vital in the gases industry and to ganrentee gas cylinder safety we provide all our staff with regular training on product knowledge and inspection methods. This is assessed and independently audited by UKAS during our annual surveillance visits.

To ensure complete compliance with health and safety legislation we perform regular risk assessments, safety audits and participate on a number of specialist industrial committees.

The testing, transporting and filling of gas cylinders is regulated by the Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road Regulations 2004 which implements the requirements of the ADR. All our delivery team have been trained to meet the requirements of ADR and additional advice can be given on anything cylinder or gas related matters, including:

  • Storage and handling
  • Cylinder specifications
  • Test date periods
  • Cylinder identification
  • Valve outlet connections

New European Regulations (EN 1089-3) govering the colour coding of transportable gas cylinders are due to come into force across europe. These new regulations will replace the old UK standard BS 349 colour scheme. The new system is based on providing a European wide conformity on colours for the shoulder of a cylinder this will be particularly valuable in identifying cylinders in an emergency situation when the cylinder label is not clearly visible.

With this new regulation a range of our cylinder will change in colour. The changes will be phased in over the next few years.
